 Fall is coming and so is our annual Scarecrow Contest!  Have you always wanted to create your own scarecrow? 
Now is your chance! Entry is free and ribbons are awarded to the top 3 scarecrows. A limited number of spaces are available.
 
 2010 Scarecrow Contest Rules:
 
 PARTICIPANTS MUST PRE-REGISTER
  •  Contest is open to individuals, businesses, organizations, and clubs. There is no fee to enter.
  •  Scarecrows may go up anytime between September 18 and September 25 and removed between October 8 and October 14.
  •  Scarecrows must be maintained by the individual/business/organization/club displaying them.
  •  Lampposts will not be assigned. Participants may select any of the black lampposts located along Lake Street or Lafayette Street in Downtown South   Lyon.  You may not move a scarecrow to a different lamppost once it has been displayed.  Pre-registered local business owners may put their scarecrows up 2 days before the general public or may tag the lamppost in front of their store with a “reserved” sign.
  •  Each scarecrow must include the creator’s name. Any signage must be in proportion to the scarecrow. Scarecrows must be in good taste. Please refrain from putting overtly political/religious/controversial messages on the scarecrow.
  •  Sometimes scarecrows/parts of scarecrows are lost or damaged. Do not put anything on the scarecrow hat is highly valued or of great importance. All parts of the scarecrow should be securely fastened. You assume all responsibility for your scarecrow and its pieces.
  •  Scarecrows should be attached to the lampposts using rope or zip ties. They must not be adhered with anything that could damage the lampposts including duct tape, screws, wires, etc. Scarecrows must not block or impede traffic in any way.

Judging will take place during the week of September 27. Winners will be announced during Pumpkinfest and ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 scarecrows. Ribbons can be picked up at Farm Bureau Insurance after October 4, 2010.
